Dr. Gina Acosta Potter is a distinguished educational leader with over 30 years of service to students, families, and communities across California. Since beginning her career in 1992, she has worked in culturally rich districts including Oakland, Santa Monica-Malibu, Chula Vista, and currently serves as Superintendent of the San Ysidro School District, a role she has held since 2018. Her leadership is rooted in compassion, equity, and the unwavering belief that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive.
As the first female Filipina Superintendent in California, Dr. Potter proudly embraces her biracial heritage and has dedicated her life to uplifting diverse student populations—particularly those affected by poverty, homelessness, and language barriers. Under her leadership, the San Ysidro School District has restored fiscal stability, achieved sustained student growth, secured multiple modernization bonds, and earned CSBA Golden Bell Awards for innovation and excellence.
